Tortoise Shell, 2014, Found objects, fabric, silver thread, 24″ x 24″ x 6″.

Tortoise Shell is comprised of found objects… a rusty bike wheel, a metal pie plate and a bowl with fabric is sewn into the framework.  Hung on the wall it resembles a shield, considered as a symbol of protection, much like a shell of a tortoise.  This work is largely inspired by Lee Bontecou and her welded sculptural frameworks combined with canvas.
